Overview

The United Kingdom States (UKS) is a large federal nation mostly located within Central Wasaru comprised of the nations of United Kingdom of Miotia-Candor (State), and Kjanu (State), as well as their overseas possessions. The continental UKS borders the Ákaltar Ocean in the west and the Straits of Verleschdie to the east. The UKS borders the nations of Northern Czech, Serpenteum, Gundun, Verleschdie, Altikar, Kilameh, Lillium, Seraphim, Mendenwall (Nation), Serbatijan, and the Feng Dynasty. Following the War of the 4th Coalition and the destruction of Edokyuuria-Chaodis, the federal government of the United Kingdom States has operated out of Minervaindexca (Nation). Its largest city is Etsuyoki, and other noteworthy cities include INCLUDE ONE FROM MC, Hong Kong, Kin, & Kirchenstaudt. The population of over 542 million citizens is largely located in Kjanu following extensive civilian casualties in Miotia-Candor during the war of the 4th coalition.

The UKS formed in 1997 when the nations of Miotia and Kanatoro united following a marriage of their respective leaders as a single-party democracy. The two nation’s federal government was developed over the next two decades, surviving terrorist threats, Vrill invasions, and increasing social unrest. In 2018, Fuhrer Chancellor Shinozaki Weiss Haru implemented a series of reforms expanding the political, economic, and social freedoms afforded to citizens of the UKS. Following these reforms, a civil war broke out between the federal government and a communist uprising, which ended with a peace treaty between both sides to allow for multi-party democracy and to hold new elections, in which Mashiro Fuyuki was elected Grand Chancellor.

Kjanu joined the UKS in 2019 as the large, demilitarized nation became increasingly reliant on the UKS’s military support. The admission of the socialist Kjanu into the UKS came with extensive protests both within Kjanu and Miotia-Candor, as well as bringing the UKS into the World Union. This subsided however when the War of the 4th Coalition brought war to the northern most territories of the UKS. Following a set of conflicts lasting through the early 2020s, Miotia-Candor had become severely scarred and lost the majority of its population, with many cities destroyed and the capital arcology overgrown.

The UKS now stands as the last superpower from before the War of the 4th Coalition, leveraging its military, economic, cultural, and diplomatic weight to influence Wasaru. With large cultural exports, manufacturing industries, and control over the RIAS space elevator, the UKS is one of the world’s largest economies. As a member of both the RIAS organization and the World Union the UKS is also a key diplomatic player in many of the world’s events.

Geography

The UKS is the largest country in the world spanning most of central Wasaru. Due to its size, it contains a wide variety of biomes including the arid steppes of Monliu, the formerly sandy desert of Hinomoto, and the vast jungles of Kjanu. The country is located on the equator of Northern Utopia. The state of Kjanu often only sees a “wet season” and a “dry season”, but northern Miotia-Candor can experience cool winters. The west coast of the UKS faces frequent typhoons from the Kjanuan Bay.

While Kjanu’s environment is extremely healthy due to long-standing environmental protection laws, the environment of Miotia-Candor has suffered immensely due to its recent warfare and disastrous calamities. If not for the sprouting of the kilometer-tall Speranta Tree, the region is likely to have faced ecosystem collapse as much of the surface was destroyed and revealed extensive cave networks, ruins, and fossilized trees. The healthiest environments in Miotia-Candor are now its abandoned urban ruins.

Population

The population of the UKS is  542,286,674 as of 2024, with 159,846,745 residing in Miotia-Candor, 378,722,438 in Kjanu, and the remainder in overseas territories. Miotia-Candor’s growth rate has risen in recent years due to the recent population declines, while Kjanu’s fertility rate has declined to the point that most population growth is from immigration, particularly from the Jezabelstienian city states.

Language

Language - Pupatorian is the official language and most common language of Miotia and Candor, with German and Northern Kjanuan being national languages as well. Kjanu has four national languages, Kjanuan, Verleschdian, Monikau, and Mendian, though Candorian and Jezabelstienian are also regional languages.

Government

The Royal Federal Government of the United Kingdom States is responsible for managing federal affairs of the United Kingdom. The governing branches are split into a legislative, executive, and judicial system, while the reigning Imperial Monarch is held to a ceremonial position. The imperial family is not granted special privileges in Kjanu but is seen as divine in Cathedrasilicom(Dispatch - Pupatorian Catherdrasilicom), but has drifted away from the faith in recent years.

Executive
Executive function of the UKS is handled by the Federal Council, which consists of the heads of each respective state of the UKS and the Chief Executive of the Federal Parliament. The Federal Council is overseen by the High Chancellor, a role that rotates through the respective heads of government from each state of the UKS every year. The Federal Council is responsible for the creation of Federal Commissions at the request of the Federal Parliament. These Commissions are responsible for investigating issues facing the UKS and proposing national policy to the Legislature. Members of the Commission must be approved by a majority vote of the Federal Parliament prior to their appointment in the role.

Legislative
The legislature of the UKS is a bicameral legislature with the Council of Ministers as the upper house and the Federal Parliament as the lower house. The Council of Ministers is composed of 21 representatives selected by their respective state governments of each state in the UKS, who must approve federal policy in tandem with the Federal Parliament. The Parliament consists of 150 members who are elected every 2 years from the citizens of the UKS, and is headed by the President, a largely ceremonial position tasked with ensuring the functioning of the UKS government.

Judicial
The Federal Court system of the UKS is very limited and largely plays an arbitrational role, serving to resolve disputes between states in the UKS. Members of the court serve 6 year terms and are selected with the approval of all states in the UKS. If a member of the court is suspected of illegal acts, members of the Council of Ministers can approve a court auditor that has been selected by the state governments to investigate the justice. Should evidence of wrongdoing be found by the auditor, the justice is removed and a new one is to be appointed by the state governments.

Military

The military of the United Kingdom States’ is one of the largest and most extensively funded militaries in the world. Originally designed to fight the former superpowers in Jezabelstien (Nation) and theMeridian Commonwealth (Nation), the military of the UKS holds a distinct defensive focus with an emphasis on air superiority and unmanned machines. The military has become increasingly interlinked with those of World Union (Faction) and Royal Interdependent Allied States (Faction). The UKS military abandoned conscription in 2021, but maintains significant incentivization programs to maintain high levels of new recruits. Additionally, the usage of synthetic Nephilim-Class Aragami and other automated fighting machines has bolstered the fighting force of the UKS, while also causing significant ethical controversy for the military. Agriculture

The UKS has very little agricultural land due to the destruction of Miotia-Candor and strict environmental laws in Kjanu. While limited traditional agriculture exists, the majority of agriculture is conducted in automated farms utilizing genetically modified crops to produce vast quantities of food. In Kjanu, vertical agriculture exists in cities to farm luxury crops for dyes, teas, and medicinal products.
However with the recent lift in regulation, domestic agriculture is returning to Miotia-Candor.

Energy

The UKS is powered entirely by renewable energy, with nuclear energy dominant but extensive geothermal and offshore wind production systems in Kjanu producing an energy surplus. This surplus is often exported to neighboring countries.

Culture

While there are many differences between Miotia-Candor and Kjanu, a new national culture of the UKS has emerged since Kjanu joined the nation. Increasingly cultural exports like anime and manga are created with teams from multiple states and the values and traditions of both states have become increasingly intertwined. A set of festivals and celebrations regarding the UKS has been created to emphasize the unity of the nation, celebrating international collaboration, a commitment to scientific progress, and maintaining peace in Wasaru.

Infrastructure

The UKS has struggled to integrate the war-torn lands of Miotia Candor and the jungles of Kjanu into one transportation network, especially due to the complete absence of roads in Kjanu. Public transit on high-speed rails remains the most common means of transportation in the nation, and the network in Miotia-Candor is slowly being repaired through underground networks within the sub-surface ruins.
Highspeed trains that goes up to 500km/h are in operation for trasnit between Miotia-Candor and Eastern Kjanu.

Foreign Affairs

The United Kingdom States is a member of the World Union (Faction) and the unofficial defense alliance of Royal Interdependent Allied States (Faction).
